How do you know if you have any trapped emotions?

I would say the majority of us have so-called “emotional baggage” – emotions that have become trapped in the body. It’s part of life! But when it impacts on your ability to lead a fulfilling and joyful life and becoming all that you were meant to be and literally holds you in the past, then the Emotion Code is the energy healing modality that can address this specifically.

Trapped emotions can cause you to make the wrong assumptions, over react to innocent remarks, misinterpret behaviour and short circuit your relationships. Trapped emotions can create depression, anxiety, self sabotage, an inability to sustain a romantic relationship, constantly choosing a wrong partner for you, addictions, self pity, blame and resentment and struggle and martyrdom.

Circumstances that often result in trapped emotions:

  • Loss of a loved one
  • Divorce or relationship problems
  • Financial hardship
  • Home or work stress
  • Miscarriage or abortion
  • Physical trauma
  • Physical or emotional combat
  • Physical, mental, verbal or sexual abuse
  • Negative self talk
  • Negative beliefs about yourself or others
  • Long term stress
  • Rejection
  • Physical illness
  • Feelings of inferiority
  • Internalisation of feelings
  • Neglect or abandonment

Emotions are energy in motion and are meant to be felt and in the, ‘feeling’ of them, we release them. The true purpose of emotions are to help us to feel alive and joyful and to magnetise and draw to us, what we wish to create. Emotions are neither good nor bad – they simply ‘are’ and do not need to be justified or defended.

Emotions are only destructive if they are suppressed. So emotions become trapped due to a failure to completely feel, process and recognise them at the time that they arose.

Once a specific emotion is trapped, we tend to feel that emotion more readily and more often than we otherwise would and attract more of that emotion in to our lives. A more recent event can trigger the emotion trapped from earlier on in our life causing emotional and physical symptoms to suddenly arise.

Trapped emotional energy will lodge in the physical body and the body’s tissues that lie within that sphere will tend to fall into resonance with the vibration of the trapped emotion. So the tissues will actually be experiencing that emotional vibration on a continual basis. For example, If you have a trapped emotion of anger, if you come into a situation where you could be angry, it’s more likely that you will become angry, because part of you is already angry.

So if you don’t understand why you get angry so easily it’s because it is trapped within you from a past experience you scarcely remember. When the trapped emotion of anger is released, the emotion and behaviour that has been so second nature, just disappear.

Trapped emotions can also distort the energy field and cause pain and prevent the normal function of organs and glands. Conventional medicine is not designed to identify the invisible energy of trapped emotions. The following is a list of conditions and diseases that Dr. Bradley Nelson, founder of the Emotion Code, found, where trapped emotions appeared as a contributing factor and sometimes as the entire cause of the condition:

Acid reflux                                     ADD/ADHD                                       Allergies

Abdominal pain                          Asthma                                                Back pain

Bell’s Palsy                                   Cancer                                                 Carpal Tunnel

Chest Pain                                   Chronic Pain                                      Crohn’s Disease

Colitis                                             Constipation                                      Depression

Diabetes                                       Dyslexia                                                Eye pain

Fibromyalgia                              Frigidity                                                Headaches

Heartburn                                    Hip Pain                                                Hypoglycaemia

Impotency                                  Infertility                                              Insomnia

Irritable Bowel                          Joint Pain                                             Knee Pain

Learning disabilities              Low Back Pain                                  Hypothyroidism

Lupus                                            Migraines                                            Multiple Sclerosis

Neck Pain                                  Night Terrors                                     Panic Attacks

Parkinson’s Disease            Phobias                                                Shoulder Pain

Sinus Problems                    Tennis Elbow                                      Vertigo

Trapped emotions can also be inherited from our ancestors and are received into our DNA, from a parent at the moment of conception and can go back several generations.

There is also a type of trapped emotion which Dr. Bradley Nelson calls a preconception emotion, which is lodged in the spirit body prior to conception. He explains they can be fear related about the impending life on earth or grief related with regards to leaving ‘home’.

As a species, we humans, especially in the West, prize the intellect over and above our feelings or emotions and this is where I feel we have gone wrong. The intellect is driven by the ego and so we live from the illusion of feeling separate and vulnerable and make decisions based on fear and the need for self preservation and survival.

However, there is a better way to conduct our lives through fully connecting to our feelings which are governed by the heart. The heart is in turn guided by the soul. Our soul knows we are connected to everything, part of the so-called ‘web of life’, and decisions are much more likely to be made for the common good, arising from love for ourselves and our collective human family.

Unfortunately trapped emotions can also form a wall around our heart which can interfere in this process.
